Job Description
Applications are invited for 2 postdoctoral fellowships in wireless communications systems for cloud radio access networks (CRANs). These fellowships are funded by the Internet Committee in Brazil and are part of a project with Inmetro and Qualcomm as partners. The topic of the study is open within the general area of wireless communications. Potential topics include but are not limited to:
- Massive MIMO
- Low-resolution signal processing techniques
- Precoding and receiver design
- Channel coding: LDPC and Polar codes
- Internet of things (IOT)

Start date: as soon as possible
This is an exciting international opportunity for a candidate with (or expecting) a PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering or related areas who wishes to pursue an academic career. The requisite for the application is to have published or accepted a couple of IEEE/IET/Eurasip journals. The successful candidate will be based at PUC-Rio, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, will colaborate with national partners and visit international partners, and is expected to attend international conferences and collaborate extensively with international experts.
The 2 fellowships are open to everyone and the net salary is abt US$ 2000 per month. One of the fellowships has a duration of 1 year and the other of 3 years and 8 months. Additional funding might be available with industrial projects and with partners requiring extra 4-6 hours per week.
