Job Description

The Center for Energy and Geo Processing (CeGP) at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) and in collaboration with Georgia Institute of Technology announces the opening of a postdoc position for immediate hiring. The center research focuses on applying modern signal processing to seismic signals and geo-signals in general. The candidate will be working on major a joint KFUPM-GIT project focusing on the development of interactive computer-aided seismic interpretation techniques, specifically in 2D and 3D data. Applications include detection of salt domes, segmentation, faults tracking, image quality evaluation, etc…
We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with solid background in image processing, some background on seismic operations, and excellent programming skills.

Qualifications:
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering (signal/image processing, computer vision, pattern recognition) or related areas. The applicant should have a strong research record backed by a good publication record. Applicants must also have the ability to work independently and to help instruct students at graduate level. Strong interpersonal skills, excellent programming skills with MATLAB and/or C/C++, excellent writing and oral communication skills are also required. Knowledge in geophysics and seismology is very much desirable.
